Hi All,
I had a gentleman contact me regarding his Winchester Model 9422 with a “SuperX” medallion on the receiver. He wanted to know if it was an actual commemorative or special model and if so, if it was rare. While I do own a few 9422’s and love to shoot them, the commemoratives are outside my wheelhouse so I am hoping someone here knows something about this particular version. It is not on any 9422 commerorative list that I have seen.
I also posted this over on RFC but no one has ever seen one.
Thanks!

I don’t remember this one from the commemorative books and don’t think I’ve seen one before…..is the medallion proud to the wood or is it an inlay? Can’t tell from pic on my phone….
Does it have a unique serial number? A commem usually has an acronym of the model designation to start the number, such as “NRA10298″…
The medallion is proud on the steel receiver (not inlaid into the stock like a normal commemorative) and the serial number is a standard number starting with “F”, nothing special.

Could it be someone just epoxied a medallion onto the receiver or is it recessed into the steel a bit?
That could be, those are the only 2 pictures the gentleman sent me so I can’t tell if it is recessed but I doubt that it would be as that would affect the integrity of the receiver.
It looks like an aftermarket takedown saddle ring has been added as well as the stock leather so it is possible it is a “fantasy gun”.
