Getting harder and harder to find nice M06’s. Most are beaters with gunsmith added bbls. or bad bores and no finish. Found a nice one on the net, but not taken care of properly. Some rust spots, but I figure my buddy will get most of them out. The rifle, minus the rust spots is a good 98%. Original bbl. with bright bore. Wood is perfect. My buddy is real good at getting bad spots out and giving the rifle a coat of Ren Wax. Should turn out real nice. It’s #8, and I am always looking for nice ones. Also, looking for a Expert Model. Big Larry
Big Larry said Don’t think so. He has 26 of them already and does shows where they are to be found. I am one ahead of him in rare M06’s. I have a 1927 M06 in stainless steel. I don’t know anyone that has one. Big Larry
Must be writing another book! But I think your Stainless should count for several doz standards.

I bought that rifle off of Wards Auction site. Got it cheap, but after all the auction fees, not so cheap. Nicer rifle than both stainless rifles in Schwings book. Japan finish near 100%. Keep your eyes open for me. Big Larry
Hi Larry,
Manny at the Cody show had a very nice 1906 Expert (which I don’t think sold at the show). It was the full-blued version which is actually harder to find than the half-nickel or full-nickel versions. If I remember correctly, the bluing was about 85-90% and he was asking around $3k for it, which I thought was a bit steep but they are hard to find that nice.
If that is close to your criteria I can send you his contact info and you can discuss it with him further.
Also, I talked to Scott (aka RatRodMac) and he said he was possibly stopping by to visit. He is a good friend and a nice guy so I hope you both have a good time. Wish I could be there but drove by Cedar City about 11pm last night on my way home to catch a flight. I will make a special trip back up there sometime this fall to visit when it is cooler (it was 103 deg. last night at 11pm).

He didn’t make it. He sent quite a few messages wanting to come here, but must have had other commitments.
On Guns Intl. I found a fairly nice blued Deluxe M1906 which I immediately hit the Buy it now button.
Maybe a 80% er with typical bore problems. $995 OTD, free ship, and no Ccard charge.
Of all I have seen for sale, this is the nicest one. Still has its original bbl.
I am waiting for you to come look at the 1917 1906 with the crowned bbl. I am quite sure it is a factory bbl. replacement.
Here is a pic of the Expert Rifle. Big Larry

Larry, That one is decent.
Manny’s was nice but not 3 x $ nice, you did well!
Sorry you did not get to meet Scott this trip, he collects 52 Sporters so I know you both would get along.

No Sporters, but some nice M52’s. Recently sold my M52-A to our friend SEEWIN. It was really a nice one. In addition to the Deluxe, I bought another plain grade M06 in very nice condition with a perfect bore. These rifles are bringing more than M1890’s. well, it’s almost my bedtime. Us oldtimers need our sleep. Thanks, Big Larry
