Seems odd a commercial trainer would be Parked. Though the last production of M1922M2 Springfields were Parked (black, not grey).
It is a G7505R that was sold as a trainer to the U.S. Army and subsequently parkerized during an arsenal overhaul. There are thousands of Model 75’s out there that have been parkerized/refurbished by the military. Almost 20% of the total Model 75 production was sold to the U.S. military during WWII.

If any are ultra rare, it’s the original GI rifles that are still blue. Many have US markings, but are found to be fakes. Big Larry
All very true! I estimate at least half (if not more) of the approximately 16,000 Model 75s acquired by the military have been arsenal overhauled and most have also had the stocks modified to lower the comb and add a clearance cut to allow the Lyman 57E to depress further. Not many original untouched military contract G7505Rs floating around although there are a significant amount of postwar G7505R rifles which were sold by Winchester to the public to get rid of the WWII surplus from 1946-1947 “until supply is exhausted”. You can tell them apart by the serial number and the vintage/type of Lyman sight.
The 75 book is written, just need to spend some time at home to wrap it up. Per Seewin’s sage advice I have been trying to scale back to enjoy life more but I have found it is taking more time to delegate the work to others than it does to just jump on a plane and go do it myself……gotta fix that somehow.

Interesting! I’ve seen very few parkerized 75’s and they did not appear to be original. May need to look closer next time!
Good luck on re-prioritizing your time management, Jeff. Planes may fly fast but road trips are a huge time suck for a busy person like you.

I agree, driving takes a lot of time. The only road trip I take is to Cody each year, otherwise I am in the air.

Best Regards,
Flying takes a lot of time for me, Jeff. Baggage, parking, ground transportation, hotels and safety protocols are hard on a rookie. I’m not as organized as you are. My sometime traveling partner, Graham, was a Delta 747 pilot after he quit flying B52’s. When we leave a hotel room he can be waiting by the door, bag in hand, before I get my shaving kit organized. When I fly these days it generally involves dead folks or something equally serious, thank goodness I’ve been able to deal with them without wings lately.
Looking forward to seeing you in Cody, safe travels!
Mike
