I don’t consider myself an expert, however, my first impression is that the gun is not in “new” condition.

I have dealt with Mr. Barnett before and had no problems. He has been around for quite some time. As for the rifle, internet pics are usually not all that good. Big Larry

Thanks for the responses.
I’ve noticed that the pictures are not that good, and it makes it look as if the edge of the take down screw and sharp edges of the receiver are worn white.

This seller does seem to have some nice guns but I would sure like a more detailed description and some better pictures sent to me if I were to consider spending $5k on a M61.
I also wondered why they made the Shot Only model with a grooved receiver. I suppose the tooling was set up to make them all with grooves.

The receiver is the same is why the groves. If you ask for additional pictures you will get them. Mr. Barnett is a very stand up guy.

I’ve been buying from Steve for years and consider him a friend. He will honestly answer any questions. He does not overrate condition, in my experience. Bought a Lenard Brownell custom from him a few years ago that he knocked $500 off his price because he said I wouldn’t like some scratches it had. I was very pleased when it arrived (a 7×57 full stocked gun on a pre 64 70 action).
Don’t be afraid to make him an offer….you won’t upset him….
