I do have a M52 with two extra holes. Some moron drilled and tapped the receiver of a very rare, early #7001 slowlock rifle with the very scarce Stainless Steel bbl. I put blind screws in the holes and took the stock off another rifle, saving the SS rifle for posterity. Most of these rifles have little or none of the Japanned finish left. This one begged to be restored as near all the Japanned finish remained. So, here it is. She’s a beauty. Big Larry

This would be particularly egregious to do to a target model, which has factory scope blocks. But a Sporting Model without a scope is severely limited for serious small game hunting. I know this for a fact because when I decided head-shooting squirrels with a scoped rifle was just TOO easy to be really sporting, I hunted several yrs with a tang sight only, proving its inadequacy, compared to a scope, all too well. If a drilled Sporting Model is priced to reflect its condition, no apology is necessary.
And I love Swiss cheese.
