Hi all, new member saying hi. I won some nice old Win 22 rifles in an auction, from my research (where I found WACA) I have an early Model 57, an early straight-bolt Model 47 and another swept-back bolt Model 47. The owner had about 50 vintage rifles and most were in great condition. I will post pictures and possibly some questions after while, my son just showed up to build a 10/22!
Welcome to WACA!
Congrats, you got some great rifles, can’t wait to see the pictures!

I paid for a membership but I am not able to post images. is there a time or post count limit before being able to post?
Hello Shawn,
You are still being shown as a “WACA Guest”. If you paid you membership in the past 24-hours, it most likely has not been processed yet. Please check your membership status again later. If it has not been processed and your access upgraded by Monday morning, send me a PM.

I uploaded the auction pics to OneDrive and shared it, link. I created separate folders for the individual rifles. Not sure if it’ll work, hopefully tomorrow I can post images.
I got delayed so unfortunately have to make another 2 1/2 hr round trip this week to get them.

JWA, your thoughts on a straight handle bolt on a M47? Big Larry
The early Model 47’s had a straight (down-turned) bolt handle from April 1948 – circa August 1948.
I have noted 8 variations for the Model 47 in total.

On one of the 47’s the bolt sticks straight out, perpendicular to the barrel axis. On the other, it is swept back and slightly down. As soon as my membership status is updated I’ll post pics rather than a link. I’m really interested to find out more about them once I have them in hand and can get the serial numbers. Even more interested to go shoot em!

No serial numbers on the M47. I for one, would like to see pics of the rifle with the straight bolt. They are great little rifles and a nice starter rifle for a kid. The safety goes on automatically after each shot. They should have made this rifle like the M67 Boys Model. Shorter stock and 20″ bbl. When I go shooting, I like to take one of my M47’s for informal plinking. Very accurate rifles. High quality as well. Big Larry
I put a link to OneDrive in one of my earlier posts. I still am not able to post pics directly but I will as soon as I can. Reading your posts about the M47, how fun and accurate they are, is one of the reasons I bought those over some of the other rifles offered. I am going to call the auctioneer and see if I am approved to pick them up yet.

Welcome, Shawn. Good to have a new member who appreciates Winchester .22’s. Looking forward to pics and maybe a range report. Like Larry I’ve found them to be high quality, good shooting little guns!
