Beautful engraved 61 whether original or not. Looks like it has a checkered stock. Could the checkering on the stock be original?
I would ask Pauline what she thinks of the engraving. It could be worth asking her opinion.

The buttstock has been non-factory checkered. No question at all about that. Which adds to my initial belief that the engraving is aftermarket.
The forearm is original and correct.
