I just got this Model 74, the rear sight is so bent up that it doesn’t hold the elevator down, I also think the elevator is wrong as it is too long to reach the top notch.
Question 1- Is this the correct sight? If so can I take off the sight and bent it back down or do I need to replace it?
Question 2- Is this the correct elevator and if not can anyone show me what one I need?
Like I said in another post, the elevator is in backwards. The thumb piece is supposed to be reward of the sight not in it. If it hits the receiver that is a clear sign it is not correct. Looks like Larry was going to show you the correct one but his picture did not post?
Edit: I have been told that I am wrong, again.
That elevator does not appear to be a factory 2A elevator for the 32B, the notches and length are incorrect.
The Model 74 used 2 different sights based on the caliber, if it was a .22 gallery special G7421R it should be the 32E (very low sight) and if it is a standard .22 LR or .22 short it used the 32B. If your rifle is a standard rifle then that is the correct sight, simply bend it back down and get the correct 2A elevator.
As I mentioned in a previous post, the thumb piece of the 2C elevator does go forward as shown on the 32B, the problem in your photo is it is the wrong elevator, possibly an aftermarket.

That is what I though, I will look for a new elevator and see if I can get the sight out and bend it back down. Thank you so much for your help!
