Found this at a local gun show last week and couldn’t pass it up. Bert, how many and what percentage are you seeing in your survey for pre-64 model 94’s with the ramp front sights chambered in 25-35?
Maybe I’m missing something (as I frequently do :)), but I thought most post war but pre-64 carbines have ramped front sights? I have a pair of carbines in 25-35, one from the 40’s and one from around 1950, and both have ramped front sights.

All Model 94 Carbines manufactured after May 1932 have the ramp style front sight.

That’s quite a treasure. What did it set you back? Big Larry
Thanks Larry. Seller was initially asking $2,750, but after hard negotiating, took it home for $2,225. I think I did pretty well on this one.

A few years ago, at a Reno Show, I bought a near mint 25-35 Flat Band for $1,700. They are pretty scarce. Later on, I made a trade for a 98% 1906 vintage 25-35 SRC. Traded them both off, and got them back a couple years later. They are pretty hard to find. This time I am keeping them. Got period ammo for both. Very expensive. You have a nice one. No excuses. Thanks Larry. It’s definitely a keeper. At the same show, another dealer had a nice flat-band (about 85% condition) model 94 also in 25-35 for $1,700. I opted for the pre-war carbine vs. the flat- band for a few hundred dollars more due to higher condition, the older style knurled hammer, “Winchester” marked rear tang, drilled and tapped for tang sight, and the older model 55 style butt plate. The flat-bands are cool because of their somewhat uniqueness but their lack of factory provisions for peep sights are a detriment to functionality in my opinion. Therefore, the choice I had between the two was an easy one for me.

Very nice carbine. I’ll go as far to say that I would take this carbine over an identical one in .32 Special
Thanks Steve. I already got the .32 Special covered! Found this one at Cabelas about 4 years ago for a measly $680. Now I just a need a nice prewar 94 in .30 WCF to complete the trifecta.

I have 3 pre wars. A 38-55, a 32 Special, and a really nice 30-30 Transitional. I really don’t collect M94’s any longer, but I do have a few M1894’s leftover. Big Larry
Very nice collection of 94’s! I especially like that 38-55 SRC. Been looking for one of those with condition, but they’re eluding me.

Always very pricey, but I remember seeing a couple for sale a few years back at a gun show for $2500. I got mine at a Utah Cabelas and believe me, it wasn’t cheap. Big Larry
