Walked into the local gun shop. Serial no. 1266XX (couldn’t read the last two digits) circa 1883 and so stamped on left side receiver. Gun has sling swivels, one on left side front barrel band and one (now missing) on left side butt stock but in-letting for same certainly looks factory.
Has anyone ever seen one of these? Looks Central/South American to me but can’t identify the markings:

I checked my survey and couldn’t find any reference to a 1882 or RN stamped on a gun. I checked guns around that serial range for export marks and could find any.

I checked again for RM and I found 4 guns, 107425, 107796, 107797 and 127229. All 44 caliber carbines with swivels. 107425 was listed as “RM 1886”

Careful, Rick. I think that old girl may just follow you home if you fondle her again on your next trip to the gun shop. 😉
