Winchester 94-30WCF, serial # 1474697

From what I can find, 30 WCF (Winchester Center Fire) stamp indicates it was manufactured just before WWII

and apparently there were no records kept between 1942 (last SN 1221289) and 1948, SN 1500000 (which was given to Pres. Harry S. Truman)

Can I get any more info on my rifle’s manufacture date??

Glenn,

You have been misinformed;

1. Records were continuously kept from 1942 through 1948.  What actually happened is that Winchester suspended production of the Model 94 on August 23rd, 1942 (at serial number 1343183) to support the WW II efforts.  Post WW II production was resumed in late September 1945, and on 9/28/1945, serial numbers had reached 1343510.

2. The “W.C.F.” marking was continuously used from May 1895 through mid-year 1950.  The highest serial number I have verified thus far with the “30 W.C.F.” caliber marking is 1676309.

Your Model 94 is a Flat-band Carbine and it was manufactured in January 1948.
