Peter,
Wow, great looking ’94, congrats. That’s the kind of condition I really like, good solid blue with wear in all the right places. Is it a standard 26″ barrel….looks to be. I assume you meant 1/2 magazine, at least that’s what I’m seeing. I love the Lyman 21, very cool option.

Incidently, I removed the Sheards front sight and the area underneath in the dovetail was a tad rusty and blued. It could be that the Sheards was a factory option back then. Can’t letter, so no way to know for sure. From the looks of grime etc in that area, I would say original, but just my opinion. Peter

Very nice, congrats! I like a levergun with a bit of honest wear, quite possibly because they’re a little easier to afford, lol. Lyman sight a very nice touch, pistol grip stock and a shotgun butt very nice as well. How’s the bore?

The caliber stamp on the side of the barrel puts the rifle in the 380,000 or higher and from 1907 or later. This caliber marking continued until s/n 830,000 in 1916.
Paul,
I own a Model 1894 Take Down rifle serial number 370552 with the caliber marking on the left flat. The PR date for it is 10/14/1907. I suspect that the caliber stamp was moved to the left side of the barrel in the 365,000+ serial range.

Peter,
Great looking rifle. I have one like it but with a full mag and crescent butt, letters with 24″ barrel and sights including the receiver sight. I like those Lyman receiver sights–prefer them to a tang sight when shooting.
Paul,
If it helps with your worksheet on the caliber stamp location I once had a 94 TD DLX OB in 30 WCF with caliber stamp on the top flat of the barrel, SN 367418.
