Just found this book that I had never heard before…it was for sale on a local online flea market, and I got it almost for nothing. The book is in very good shape with cover sleeve (on which is a picture of Frederic Remingtons painting “The Scout”). The book itself is a story of the 1866 repeating rifle.
As the book is totally unknown to me, I´d like to know if it belongs to those “better” Winchester books with valuable information or not? Anyway I´m going to read it as soon as possible, but it would be nice to have some opinions about the book from other collectors.
It is an early decent reference book. I wouldn’t consider it the bible or a must have reference book, but it is a notable book to have. It has a couple of interesting items contained within it. One being, a picture of a One of One Hundred 76 barrel inscription that is referenced in Dr. Ed Lewis’s book. Along with a couple of other details, having been written before George’s Winchester Book, it doesn’t seem to hold much attention with a lot of collectors out there. Just my opinions.
Sincerely,
Maverick
