Found these at an estate sale this weekend and thought they were pretty cool–all for 40 bucks so definitely couldn’t pass them up. Don’t know much about these, but three of them are dated July 1924. I especially like the one with with the upside down label error–and that can is still full and sealed. That label is enameled on as well (not a sticker). The other 3 are empty and have paper labels. Anyone here on the forum know much about these and their value? I’ve researched the July 1924 dated cans online and have an idea of their worth, but the one with the upside down label is quite an anomaly and have no idea of its value. Any ideas?? Pretty cool conversation piece anyway.
Thanks,
Don
To be honest with you, the one with the upside down label is the least appealing one to me. You just cannot display it as effectively. Certainly not in the category of this.😀

I agree, & in addition it’s the common “modern” can.
Here’s one of the oval cans:

Thanks guys. I was thinking the upside down label can was from the 1930’s or 40’s. Perhaps it’s much later than that??
I would think so. Is there a zip code anywhere? Zip codes came out in 1963. If no zip code, presumably before 1963, but could be late 1950s or early 1960s.

Definitely not, but that’s the period of the oval cans. But if you intend to sell them, it’s not necessary to know more–just list them on ebay & the market will determine their worth. They’re attractive display pieces, but not great rarities; I think the original buyers also thought they were too attractive to throw away when empty, & stuck them away in the garage or tool shed.
