It would be nice if they had posted the actual serial number…

Typo on the thread title. 1894 not 1884.

Although above ser # 5000 I was still looking for the 10 o’clock screw in hopes it was still a first variation 94. No real significance here imo.

Nice enough gun but the “low” serial number doesn’t justify the asking price, IMHO. I have one a few months older but didn’t pay a premium for the “low” number.

Yup I agree Mike. I’ve had two 3 digit ser # 94’s & a 4 digit under ser 5000, and all first variation. I paid a slight premium for the 3 digit guns but that was my choice to acquire them.

I have a First Model 1894 in the early 3000 range and paid $10 for it. I didn’t pay a premium for the low serial number either. 🙂

All of you fellows that have a First Model need to participate in my survey of them… thus far, I have a total of (231) verified.

I wonder if serial number 152 went out on the same order number as  serial#148, which sold a couple of months ago?

Al,

In my research survey, I have S/N 148 shipped on Order # 481, but I do not have the Order # for S/N 152.  That stated, I strongly suspect that both rifles were in the same as Order, as both shipped on the same date 10/30/1894.
