I believe that there is also a third style of matting. But I don’t have a picture of it.

Here’s the “wavy” style I was talking about from an 1894 of mine. Notice the caliber stamp (rolled to the right and ended up upside down) and proof mark (rolled to the left) to accommodate the matting.
