I just acquired this 1894 Spruce gun from my dad along with a box of vintage ammo, LLLL pins, and an original 4-page document dating to December 6, 1918 published by the Spruce Production Division of the U.S. Army and the Loyal Legion of Loggers and Lumbermen. Pretty interesting pieces of history and am thrilled to add them to my collection.

Congrats on being considered worthy of being chosen the new custodian of this wonderful collection! These items would make a pretty cool display table at the Cody (or most any) Show. Thanks for sharing the pics with us.

Thanks for sharing. That’s a great collection. I’m envious of the documentation you have. I love to find relative info for many of my guns that carry a historical story, so I hope you don’t mind if I’ve saved images of your documents with the rest of my Spruce Gun related info. I have both of those pins as well as a third one.

Hi Steve,
I too love to hunt down items that can add to the history of my guns. However, it’s not too often you have that opportunity. I’m sure all these Winchesters we collect have an amazing story to tell, but it’s sad that nearly all of those stories had been forgotten. We can only wonder. That’s why I feel so fortunate to be the caretaker of this fine rifle. The document to go with it is a true prize and I don’t mind you saving copies of it. I really like that pin you have. I’m currently on the hunt for one of those as well. I’m sending you a PM regarding an offer you can’t refuse.
