I took my Win Model 88 barrel and receiver out of the stock. While I had it out I opened the bolt using the finger lever. something moved and I heard a clunk, although I didn’t see what it was. Now the bolt won’t close! When I try to close the finger lever, the bolt moves further to the rear and won’t move forward. It is a .308 Caliber.
Anybody have this experience? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Richard
I am not a Model 88 expert. But I do tear down my bolts for cleaning. One thing that moves is the shroud for the firing pin from cocked to uncocked. Try moving this to the other position. When you pull the bolt out it is in the cocked position and most likely you won’t see the end of the firing pin sticking out.
Does your extractor move too? If so try to realign it.
