I know this is an oddball to a true Collector group, but here goes:
Can the ( terrible ) wood on a Model 1894, 1977 Winchester ( U.S. made ) Commemorative Carbine be replaced with old stock and forearm wood from the original product 1894 guns ?
In other words, are the receiver upper and lower tangs matching to the older stocks, and the forearm to the receiver and barrel band ?
If so, I’m looking to find an old stock and forearm to fit on the carbine to make a better looking shooter.

Bill,
In answer to your question, No, you can not use a Model “1894” butt stock on a 1977 vintage Model 94. You need to find a butt stock no older than mid year 1948. In late 1950, Winchester shortened the forend stock, so you need one of those made no later than that.

Kinda of Funny, but you know you can find a nice 100-200 year piece of walnut and have it turned into a replacement stock and you’ll still have a nice piece of Old Wood for you stocks that is brand new.
Or buy a replacement stock someone else has turned for you, out of a nice 100-200 year old piece of walnut.
