….procedure for pins. I removed the breechblock and lever assembly from my 1885 Winder Musket and was wondering if there are any special procedures for removing the large pins that the hammer and the short link to the lever pivot on. The hammer pin is slotted and does rotate. Is that pin driven out from the non-slotted end? Thank you!

I finally managed to drive the lever link pin out. I used a brass punch to avoid any damage. The pin was extremely tight. Should it be snug, or freefloating? The split-head hammer pin is free, but I cannot squeeze the head to allow removal. Any ideas?

I was able to remove the firing pin, so I am going to clean the breech block assembly with the hammer in place. Hoppe’s No. 9, dental picks and compressed air will take care of any crud.
