Anyone ?? Experienced a specific feeding issue w an 1886 , where the cartridge will cycle out of mag onto shell lifter then as you lever forward there seems to be a slight upwards tilt of bullet / cartridge causing the bullet to bind in the upper chamber opening and not allowing the lever to cycle closed . Now …. I have stripped and cleaned . I replaced the shell lifter but persists . If you jiggle the lever or put rifle in a semi upside down inclination the rim portion obviously pops up a bit and allows for proper chamber alignment and the shell chambers . I have numerous other 86’s to compare lifter heights and visual comparison and do not see any obvious differences , but this has me beat so far .
thx .

Interesting.  This is unknown territory for me.  I have never had a problem with a M1886 feeding.  What chambering is your rifle?  Have you tried using different ammunition?  Are your cartridges reformed from another cartridge?

So ….. have replaced the lifter …. No joy . Replaced the “ toggle link” fits into lever and a slot in cartridge lifter “ NO joy .  Had the loading gate off and for chits n giggles loaded a couple into mag and WT heck it cycles perfectly . 😡 inspected loading gate w others I have I can see absolutely no difference in specs or obvious wear marks . Even put another gate on it and back to the original feed issue . Take gate off …… cycles perfectly . Day 3 into this son of a gun .

Don’t know if I will figure out pics but will try . And !!! No idea how amongst other issues the end issue was the cartridge guide . Following up in case anyone else is in this same boat . The pics with the higher guide back where rim sits are later model 86’s . One pic shows the early guide without the high “ lug or ear “ on this side there is a cut at an angle to guide the rim . Mine was jamming on the cut just ahead of the shell lifter . So …. I got brave and increased the angle of this cut with more of a forward inclination . Now she works pretty much 90/10 a slight hesitation but with a firm lever stroke , in they go . The rim pops up past the “ guide “ and chambers . This was an early rifle C1886 1st year . As I said , no idea why it was hanging up , have numerous early 86’s to visually compare it with . But there ya go . If any of this makes sense .

Does the screw that holds in the loading gate stick out the inside? I had a problem with a gun that the loading gate screw was to long. T/R
