In reference to the 1883 Whitney-Kennedy carbine as shown at https://www.rockislandauction.com/detail/81/1056/whitneykennedy-lever-action-saddle-ring-carbine-in-4560 I’d greatly appreciate your comments about its finishes and factory originality.
One of the things with RIA auction pictures that throws me off, much of the time, is that the bluing shown on rifles looks too black to me, whereas AMOSKEAG, IMO, does a much better job of depicting the metal finishes.
Anyway, I will greatly appreciate your comments, to include, any question that you might have about the subject carbine, in an attempt to help me.

Thank you, Bert. I’ll take it you meant it looks original as well. Do you see anyhting that might cause one to think it’s an old professional restoration…anything at all?James
Yes, it looks original to me. If somebody restored the finish, it was an extremely good job of accomplishing it.

Pretty amazing condition and unusual to boot. I seldom see a W/K in my ramblings and I’ve never seen one even close to this condition. Hopefully Shrapnel will drop in and take a look if he’s not too busy hunting.

I agree. Steve knows these guns very well, too. I figured that some folks would have at least commented on some of the screws in that they appear to have been turned, which begs the question as to why, should that be the case. As for the blue color being so dark, it could be due to the lighting, or maybe the guns intended for the military, initially, like this one did not receive the beautiful bright bluing that some commercial guns received.
