I just found an interesting article on the MET website: It contains high-resolution scans from the workbook of Louis D. Nimschke.

He lived and learned not far from me. The engraving school in Zella (Suhl / Thuringia) still trains engravers today. The training lasts 3 years and ends with a government certification exam.

There is also some 4 to 5 highly engraved Winchester at the MET. You can search the website and find them.
