I am not that familiar with the Winder musket and have a few questions. Last nite I looked at a small collection of Winchester .22’s that are for sale, in the collection is a Winder Musket as follows; ser# 216325, cal. 22 short, 1 barrel band. The gun is in really nice,95% finish, cond. and is all there including sling swivels, except is missing the aperture in the rear frame mounted sight. Just curious if there,s a market and an idea of value. I know it,s difficult without pics. but I’m working on that. I just sent My first e-mail 2 weeks ago, I guess I’m getting really automated huh. I don’t want to rush it, but I,m going to-day to purchase a digital camera. Harry P.S. I just read Bert’s article “Winter2010” and answered a bunch of My questions . It is a mod. ’87 with the transverse bbl. band screw and no U.S. military markings and typo on the ser# 126325.

Henry, if you have a smart phone use it to take pictures. Once on your phone they can be emailed or sent as an attachment on a text. I have a computer so I email them to myself. Once on the computer it is easy to attach to this web site. Fortunately my wife and daughter have helped me out on this stuff.
Henry,
The serial number identifies it as a 1918 production Winder Musket, and yes, there is a market for them albeit not a large one. Most collectors are looking for a U.S. ordnance marked Winder Musket versus a commercial sales specimen.

Harry Don’t feel bad, my grandkids went hysterical last month when I just got my new phone. It’s a flip phone! They couldn’t believe it.
