What happened to the spreadsheet from Winchester Repeating Arms with the “official,” but often incorrect, serial numbers and dates? I noticed FN/Browning also removed their listing for various models and serial numbers on the Browning website.

First, both websites are one and the same. In answer to your question, I do not know specifically why they took down the DOM information, but I highly suspect it was a result of having received a lot of negative feedback about the inaccuracy of the information that they had posted.

Seth,

Have you tried asking them?   http://www.winchesterguns.com/support/contact.html

Thanks guys. No I have not contacted them directly. I suspected what Bert suggested, and figured there was a decent chance he or others here already knew the answer. I’ll shoot them a message and see if I hear anything back.

UPDATE: No reply from Customer Service.

“Thank you for the email. It looks like it was taken off during an update. The IT department is working on getting that back up and running. “

Doesn’t sound like its due to the information itself being updated. I was hoping it might be given the known discrepancies. The Browning dates are back on the web, but the Winchester site now has a page directing people here or to Cody now. The links to get to the PDF with the serial number ranges and what not appears to be broken.
