Can someone explain why the date of manufacture from Winchester Collectors, is many times different from the date of manufacture on OldGuns.net?

I assume the Winchester Collectors dates are more accurate. Am I correct?

Thanks, Dick Pike

The dates from WACA are from actual documents, The polishing room records were Winchester recorded the date the frame was stamped with the serial number. The other sites have the Madis dates that were from a source before the polishing room records were found.

The oldguns site points to the WACA resource page…  if the date is in a listing, it may be different as Bob states but scroll down to the Manufacture Dates and they link to here. That’s how I first came to this fantastic group of folks.
