As of today, the following information is provided by our WACA Gun Show promoter, Vincent Martin;
“The Cody Show is still scheduled for July 10, 11, and 12th of 2020,
at the Riley Arena. As Cody continues to move forward in opening
businesses and the opening of the Wyoming entrances to Yellowstone
National Park, we remain cautiously optimistic that the show will take
place on the currently scheduled dates. Governor Mark Gordon’s next
scheduled update will take place on or about May 31, 2020. We will
keep you apprised of any updates as they happen.”

Thanks for the update, Bert.

Hot off the press… The WACA Cody show is a GO! Based on the message I just received below (from Vinny Martin, our incoming WACA President and show promoter), the requested variance was approved, and permission granted by the State, County, and City to hold the show as scheduled.
“It is official! We have received approval to our submitted exemption
request from the City of Cody, Park County, and the State.
There are some restrictions being placed on us in order to fulfill the
requirements to meet the Covid 19 guidelines. Some of the
restrictions may be lifted prior to the show based on any future
changes to the public health orders currently under consideration by
Governor Gordon.“

Looks like I’ll be missing another one.
Mike
I’m getting married on the 11th so I guess i’m gonna miss this one. I don’t think Pres. Trump is letting us “sick” Canadians into the U.S. yet anyways. It’ll make Me twice as keen next year.

Talked to Vinny earlier today, he was nice enough to follow up on an earlier e-mail with a call. I thanked him then and I’d like to thank him here for persevering and making this show happen. I’ve dealt with small government boards and I understand the challenges.
Thanks, Vinny, wish I could be there to shake your hand.

I generally stay at the Irma. Lots of history. If you can score a room in the old (historic) section you’ll feel like you’re walking around a movie set. Real antique furniture! Coming down the stairs early in the morning for a cup of their wonderful coffee at that beautiful cherrywood bar is an experience I’ll never forget. Yes, it’s a bit pricey but you gotta do it at least once!

Thank you, Mike. I’ll check the Irma out more closely today than I did yesterday. The only other time I made the Cody show was a few years back and we were driving our Sportsmobile and stayed in an RV camp. Wish you could make it this year.
James
James,
I will be there and look forward to seeing you!
For the last 5 years I have stayed at a local B&B called “Robin’s Nest” within walking distance of downtown and the Riley Center where the show is held. http://www.robinsnestcody.com/
Since I have to stay in hotels most of the year for my “real” job it is refreshing to do something different. The owners are super nice and are experts on the history of Cody and Yellowstone which is a bonus.
Just another option from the expensive hotels.

Hi Jeff,
Thank you for the information! I’ll check it out as well. It sounds like another nice place to stay!
Will be looking forward to seeing you, too!
Will your book be available by then?
James
Hi James,
Unfortunately the book won’t be available until the first week of August due to the unforeseen issues I described in a separate post (see Clarence’s post on Winchester slings). I will bring a proof copy though if you would like to flip through it before you decide to buy.

Looking forward to seeing all of you again, and meeting a few new friends. I will have my WACA ID on so please stop me for an introduction if you spot me.
The virtual handshakes will be hard to get used to and I suppose we will have to refrain from any group hugs, but all in all it will be a great show, I’m sure. I think we may lose a few attendees due to the restrictions and fears of Covid, but hopefully we will make up the difference with all the folks that haven’t been able to go to a gun show in three months. I’m really hoping it draws a number of new visitors to our show for this very reason. I know I’m itching to get in the doors of a show.
I stay at the Best Western Sunset. Its a nice place, fairly close to the Museum, and you can park right in front of your room so its nice for moving guns in and out if needed.
