Can I state this without being a jerk?
The problem is that anything with tires once you drive it off the lot depreciates, in most cases. Antique Winchesters usually hold their value if not appreciate.
Of course, we all need a set of wheels. Buying a pickup truck like Bert’s, that you drive forever, is sound financially. But to sell Winchesters and buy a depreciating asset isn’t something I have in myself to do. Obviously, you only live once, and I might be in the minority here.

Some things are done just for fun. Life is short; enjoy the ride!

Couldn’t agree more
It’s been quite a ride, especially this year. Thank goodness for the fun stuff!

I’m with Bert: sports cars should be RED.I bought this one when I was barely out of my teens; it still resides in my garage, and I have a medicare card!
Or as my wife says: “You bought it when you were young and stupid, and you have gotten older, but you haven’t gotten much smarter!”

Red shows up better in the rear view mirror…

My current ride is quicker, smoother, quieter and stealthier than anything I had as a youngster. It may be faster, I don’t care to find out. I’ve driven fast cars, I’ve built fast cars, I’ve helped folks build some very fast cars. I’ve chased bad guys at speeds I don’t want to see again but I caught them. I’ve also seen what happens when someone has more car than driving ability. Last time I drove a Corvette I had a pre-existing back injury and had to drag myself out of it as the seat was mere inches off the pavement. Today’s Corvette is an awesome vehicle but I’d rather have my current ride and the difference in Winchesters. I can’t drive like I used to but I love a good Winchester! Quite honestly I think Kirk feels the same way.

I prefer Winchesters (well, and other lever rifles) over cars. However I will concede that when moving into the nursing home, there’s no spot for your rifles but they will probably let you park your Corvette in the parking lot. Might even be able to look at it from your window.

I don’t think it is being a jerk – I think, for the most part, you are correct; well, until you watch a Mecum or Barrett Jackson auction and recall all of the opportunities you passed up years ago. I am like Burt and drive’em till they drop, but I do like cars and trucks. I don’t “generally” care about the color, I just like them complete factory, even down to the hose-clamps, sorta how I like my guns. Some leave as is, some restore, but always correct. I even like silver. I just wish we had the kind of grass Sharpnel has!!!!

In my opinion, you made the right call on that beautiful TR6.
Like vintage firearms, I’m very fortunate also to have a few fun cars & motorcycles. But one in particular that I’m very fortunate to have and would not be able to afford now. Like you I made a bit of a rash decision. I bought it in 1985. I was in my mid 20s and had to take a loan for it. Mom was quite vocal in her displeasure. But I know I made the right decision.
PS.I going have to go with the original Brittnay blue over red!

My dad was not a “car” guy and I remember all of the cars that I could have gotten for a song – he talked me out of them. Muscle cars that I could just cry about today. The biggest loss – long story I won’t bore you with – A 1950’s something Gull Wing Mercedes. He said “you don’t need that, you can’t work on it and the parts will be too expensive”
