Greetings,

Can anyone please tell me from where did Winchester obtain the steel they used for barrels and receivers and parts in general.

if the answer is readily out there somewhere, I can’t find it.

Mike,

Winchester had many different sources (manufacturers) of the steel they used for there barrel steel. I suspect they bought the steel from whomever had the best price on the day they placed the order. Just for the Nickel Steel barrels alone, I know of at least three different companies;

M.N.S. (Midvale)
C.N.S. (Crucible)
B.N.S. (Bessemer)
