Mike, I see they told you when and where, but no one coughed up any gas money for you! Cheers! Tim
Tim-
I guess they figured since I needed gas money I probably wasn’t going to buy much from them. I had hoped to see Bill in Durant last month but that didn’t work out. He had some world class eye candy there last year!

Mike–love your humor! Since the date has changed to no longer conflict with snow goose hunting, I should be there myself. But I am away enough as it is. Maybe next year I will go there vs Greeley. Its closer. And maybe I will win the lottery and be able to do all! Maybe I SHOULD BEGIN to play the lottery? Tim

Tim-
Perhaps we should have bought a ticket or two. I figure with all them Californians coming here coming here I can send a few dollars their way…NOT! Funny how the big winners are often in Kommiefornia. This year I’m cautiously poking around to see how far Social Security and my retirement business will take me. I’ll make it it Cody if I have to hitchhike and sleep in the trees around the parking lot but the other shows are TBD at this point. NRA show is in my back yard, I will be able to afford the TGCA show in Waco next month but the Greely and Tulsa shows may be a bit much for me this year.
Don’t worry, though. I’m getting in a lot of range time!

So how was attendance at the show? I know in some recent shows, most of the buying/selling/trading activity has been by dealers. I’m curious about he extant to which the public showed up and if they were doing much buying.
I have heard that the show petered out quickly on Sunday and a lot of dealers packed up and were gone by lunch time.

That pretty well describes the last few collectors’ shows I’ve attended. Durant show had great response from the public but most of the sales were among table holders. I can’t imagine 1300 tables of collectors, would have loved to go.

Explains why “good buys” for the public are few & far between; or maybe “nonexistent” describes the situation better.
The Tulsa Show with 4200 tables is primarily sales between table holders. The bargains are on set up day, Friday. It’s 11 acres, the big dealers can’t dominate the show. Although they are walking the show, to big to dominate, everyone has a equal chance. The show is sold out.
What has been happening in recent shows, the big auction houses have also been walking and signing up nice guns. Nice stuff is taken off the table and consigned to auction companies as the show progresses. They see quality and convince the seller to go for big bucks. Friday the best chance for a bargain.
I’ll be there April 5th walking the show. T/R

I don’t know the numbers, but it was fairly packed on Saturday, elbow to elbow for a while in the aisles. The people that were packing up on Sunday had good reason to as a winter storm was approaching. Many of them had to drive through it to get back home, including me.
Although it’s not a true collector show (as there’s a mixed bag off guns, ammo, and other modern stuff), it seems to draw in plenty of like-minded Winchester & Colt guys. I saw some great guns get swapped back and forth with plenty of good friends to chat with. Always one of my favorite shows on the limited circuit I travel, this one being the furthest one I set up at.
