Can someone tell me a way to find the history of a Winchester Rifle from its serial number?
Thanks for any help

Gary,
For the vast majority of Winchester arms, the serial number will not provide any “history” of the gun in question beyond its date of manufacture. For the early production Models, the serial number can be used to determine the “as built” configuration of the gun. To access that information, you need to contact the Cody Firearms Museum records office. To give you an example, for the Winchester Model 1894, the original factory warehouse ledger records exist for serial numbers 1 – 353999.

It depends on the serial number and the model you have if that info is available.

Gary,
Also Under the WACA page Resource tab you can find your model and enter your serial to find the year it was manufactured.
Sincerely
