I was recently made aware that Paypal can not be used to purchase ammo . I of course stopped the purchase and used another credit card. At the same time I noticed a ad on GB for a rifle and the only accepted payment was Paypal. Given the very low number of sales the seller had I noitified the seller that it was against PapPal rules to purchase a fire arm or ammo with Paypal. I received a very nasty note from the seller telling me he was aware of Paypals rules and if I was not willing to break the rules do not bid.

Why “of course”? Use of Paypal is a courtesy from the seller, so he was right to be PO’d by your squeamishness. Any time I can break the rules of these left-wing orgs, inc. ebay, I jump at the chance.
With my experience with Paypal and Ebay is if you buy something, the only time they will refund you is if you don’t get the item but if you get an item but its not what you expected or bad condition they don’t stand behind it.

That’s right–you’re better off if you never get the item at all. If it’s broken, not as described, etc., you’ll have a long row to hoe before ebay forces the seller to take it back. However, it can be done if you’re persistent, because your ace in the hole is demanding a charge-back from your bank–ebay doesn’t like that at all! I’ve done it. If you paid by check or MO, you’re screwed.
