Hey, I have a 94 Winchester 26 inch half round half octagon barrel. The serial is 119xxx, which from what I can tell is 1898. It seems to be in decent condition (%50). The questions I have are, what is a deluxe model? What is takedown? And finally what’s it worth. As I read on another site, I’m not a gun collector I just buy what I think looks great. I own 6 mod 94’s and seen lots more and this one is the only one I seen like this.
Thanks.
Hello,
We very much prefer that complete serial numbers be posted when questions are being asked. That stated, Model 1894 serial number 119000 was manufactured July, 1901. If the last three digits of the serial number are > 578, that would put the date of manufacture in August 1901.
There is no such thing as a “deluxe” model. Winchester manufactured and cataloged several variations of the Model 1894;
1. Sporting Rifle
2. Fancy Sporting Rifle
3. Sporting Rifle Take Down
4. Fancy Sporting Rifle Take Down
5. Extra Lightweight Rifle
6. Extra Lightweight Rifle Take Down
7. Carbine
There is no possible way to determine the value without first knowing which specific cartridge it is chambered for, which specific variation that it is, and what the graded condition is. If you can post (or provide me) several pictures of the rifle in question, I can readily identify what you have, and an idea of the graded condition.

At the top of the page go into Resources then When was my gun made.
Takedown is a device to easily remove the barrel group from the receiver.
Deluxe is a collector term for a Fancy Sporting Rifle. These have much fancier wood, usually a checkered stock and sometimes a pistol grip stock instead of a straight grip.
The only way for us to give you an estimate is for you to submit pictures. The fact that it has the half round barrel it clearly was special ordered. Look at the pictures with Bert’s post. The gun on the bottom is a deluxe model 1885.

Great thanks. Sorry the full serial number is119227. I am not positive on how to send pictures on this site. I do have several ready. With a little guidance I sure can send them over. Thanks for the help on this.
July 1901.
You will need to upload your pictures to a photo host website, and then post the URL to them here on the WACA website, or you can send them to me via email – [email protected]
