Hello All, I am attempting to help myself and others answer this question which comes up often as I setup at gun shows and display model 94’s. Here’s the question presented.
What are the different tang markers on model 94’s and what years are they connected to, and when did tgey drop the widows peak/toombstone marking on the hammer. I understand there were seven of them, and I found a few pictures of some but no dates. What would be ideal would be a picture of each and the years they were used.?
I recently added a new member to WACA with his first addition to a collection circa 1939 -30wcf and he has many questions. Most of them I have already answered, but this one has come up several times. Any help would greatly ge appreciated.

Andy,
If you’re an 1894 collector, the below book is a must have. It references all of the information you are looking for (and much more).

Deerhunter,
thanks for the heads up. Found it on ebay and bought it. Never can have enough reference materials.

I believe Renneberg’s books show them all except for the one discussed a few days back. The one that had the upper tang marking without the upper tang screw hole. I had bought one six or eight years back in excellent condition for the sole purpose of having one that scarce. I exchanged some emails with Bert about it. It’s the only one that I have seen until Bert posted a picture of another one a few days back.
