I bought a 1921 manufactured Model 1895 in nice, original condition. I’m curious about a brass marker about the size of a nickel on the butt stock with the number “9”. It’s raised from the wood surface, not embedded. The marker looks old like the rest of the rifle. Anybody know what that might be telling me?
