I have a model 1892 44/40 with a five digit serial number [first year production ] 24 inch octogon barrel full mag.this rifle is in very good to ex condition very good bore patina yes shoots great and accurate can anyone give me an idea of what this rifle might be worth

Hello,
If your Model 1892 has a 5-digit serial number, it was not a true “first year” production. The year 1892 ended with serial number 7121.
The only way we can advise you an idea of what it might be worth, is to visually see it. You can accomplish that by posting a link to clear well illuminated pictures of the rifle.

The Blue Book contains known erroneous DOM information for nearly all of the Pre-1964 Winchester models. If you use the serial number look-up tool here on the WACA website, you will have access to accurate information – https://winchestercollector.org/dates/
Model 1892 serial number 122282 was manufactured in the year 1899.

I thought you said it was a 5 digit. 122282 is 6 digits. What is the correct serial number?

thanx chuck and burt I did go to that site and found the man. date to be 1903 so I was wrong this not a first year . I am learning a lot just reading your replys to me and other posts burt your knowledge of Winchesters is emmense thank you for your replies I have much to learn
