Hope others are paying attention. If you want to be in the gun business you’ll need a license. If you continually break the law don’t be surprised when you get caught.

A number of years ago they stung a couple guys doing that at a local show in Wisconsin. They waited until they packed up at the end of the show and did a felony stop on the road with guns drawn. Thats why I stay with antiques and if I have a modern handgun that I bought, I sell it to a dealer just to cover my butt.

I seldom go to regular gun shows but a few years back I saw a dealer with a “No Paperwork” sign, wonder now if it was these guys. They seemed pretty busy. Folks like these guys give gun shows a bad name.

We need to start or support the update of the antique definition. It should be something like any weapon 100 yr old or more.

Might have been done during the TWO YEARS Repubs controlled Congress, just like interstate pistol permit reciprocity, removing restrictions on suppressors, & other things we were told would be done once those interfering Dems were got out of the way. Now, forget it!

I knew a guy that was like that here in Alaska. A real tool. He actually fired off a rifle at a gun show in Anchorage while closing the bolt with his finger on the trigger to let the firing pin down. Hit another vendor. It was right before the doors opened to the public. Saw him another time, swapping sights and wood among a bunch of Winchester levers he was selling. I have no idea why he was doing that, but he was swapping a whole bunch of stuff. Maybe so someone wouldn’t recognize their missing rifle.

There is a big difference with a fella that has a table of vintage collectibles and some yahoo-yahoo’s intentionally feeding modern handguns and rifles to known criminals. (and blatantly advertising it to boot) They got what they deserved.Erin
But who makes the distinction?

That’s the Grey area…… ATF has to prove you are in the business of selling guns. The yahoo’s we are referencing were operating at several shows (blatantly advertising no paper work) on a regular basis.(doing volume business) Our guy (hobbyist) with his table of collectibles might do 2,3 maybe 4 shows annually.(selling or trading maybe a small handful of guns at each show) Pretty easy where to set your sights as an ATF agent. Just my thoughts, however logical- illogical it may seem to others…… Not saying our hobbyist wouldn’t ever fall under scrutiny, but I believe he has a fighting chance of “not selling guns as a business”

When Fond Du Lac Wisconsin had it’s raid the information I received was buying a modern gun and immediately selling it was an indication that you could be “in the business”. The BATF did not like the fact that a couple none FFL dealers were buying modern pistols taking them across state lines and selling them for profit. The BATF sent in a undercover officer to do a sting, which led to the gun drawn take down. Modern is any gun made on or after January 1 1899. You can’t legally take a modern gun to a another state and sell it at a gun show without a FFL or C&R license. Follow the law both State and Federal and you have no worries! T/R
Ya’ and if the BATF don’t get’em the IRS will’ They busted a friend of mine, 85 yrs old, at the time, in Florida. All He ever traded or sold were Win. commemorative. The IRS undercover guys set him up, they sold Him a gun and when He put it back on the table for sale for $100.00 more, they busted Him. It actually ended up causing His death although not directly but his nerves got the best of Him and He died. Bud was an awful nice guy that taught Me a lot about Win. commemoratives. It sure further lowered My opinion of the tax man.
