That appears to be a .44 Henry Center Fire. If it is, It’s a very rare cartridge.
Or center fire for a 66 center fire conversion.

Folks,
Might refer to my article on a modified 1866 SRC, to fire both rim and center fire cartridges, in the Spring 2015 “Collector”. Among other things, it showed pictures of rimfire .44 Henrys, centerfire .44 Henry’s, and the potential alternative .44 American #3 cartridges. A table of measured dimensions was included with the pictures of the cartridges. The .44 Henry Centerfire is a rare cartridge for sure, and glad to see another one depicted here!! I have little doubt there are more out there than are “known” because they lack the headstamp. If more folks were looking and had the measurements, I would bet more would come to light! For you folks with a box or drawer of loose ammo, take the time to look through them and see if maybe you, too, have a rare .44 Henry Centerfire cartridge! Alternatively, troll through the loose ammo boxes the “cartridge collectors” bring to the shows and perhaps a prize will be found if you know the dimensions (or approximate dimensions).

I have had this center fire cartridge for quite a few years. Last year I was sorting all the loose ammo and could not figure out what this cartridge was. Sometime after, a friend of mine, a major Henry and 66 collector, was selling me a bunch of Henry cartridges that came out of a 100 round box. He asked me if I still had the center fire cartridge he had given me. I had forgot about this. The cartridge on the right, in my pictures, is one from a 100 round box.
