Hello Friends, I recently inherited my dad’s house, and, in the process of cleaning it out, found a Winchester 22, Model 62A. I believe, based upon the years it was in production, that my dad may have had the gun from when he was a boy or teen. Let me preface by saying I know NOTHING about guns, but I will say it’s quite elegant and beautiful to look at it. I feel like it might be a waste to simply offload it to the nearest gun shop.
I’ve decided I don’t want to be a gun operator (I’ll limit my mechanical skills to brushing my teeth), but I would like to find and sell to someone that is perhaps a Winchester collector/connoiseur. Where would I start? Would specs would I need to list and sell the gun? And where? TIA!
The serial number (found on the bottom side of the receiver frame) will tell us when it was manufactured.
As for selling it, talk with your local gun shop and see if they will sell it for you on consignment. That will eliminate any legal issues with sale and transfer.

Do you have any pictures you could share? With the serial number??
If you’re looking for photos, search for the same model on Gunbroker–you’ll see plenty, & some will be dated by the seller. Also search “sold” prices (not asking prices!) to find out what they’re selling for, though be forewarned that even the “sold” prices are generally higher than gun-store prices, due to auction-crazyness.
