I’m finally at a place with both my career and home where I can travel to different parts of the country for good gun shows (coming out of Houston). I’m lining up all the 2018 dates. I know of the Reno, Cody, and Tulsa shows as some of the best true collector shows (Winchesters, Colts, Lugers, etc.), not the typical black gun shows. What other shows would y’all recommend? How about the Louisville show run by National Gun Day? Thanks for any advice.

I’ve never been, but i’ve heard the Las Vegas show isn’t too bad to check out.
Las Vegas shows always have very high $$$ guns. I once saw a $350,000 M1886. Have also seen 1 0f 1000’s too. If you do Vegas, bring lots of cash and quarters for the slots. Big Larry

Texas Gun Collectors’ Association puts on a good little show twice a year. Spring show is in Waco and fall show is traditionally in Ft Worth. Nice little association as well. NO black guns or much of the other stuff collectors dislike. Quite a few Winchesters but would always like to see more. Most attendees seem to be members but the public is welcome. The auction, dinner and social functions are much like the WACA structure but smaller. Many of the longtime members are very good people to get to know and do business with. A word of warning; a fair percentage of the guns on display are not for sale, at least not at a reasonable price. Some collectors, IMHO, simply set up a table with eye candy to give them an excuse to hang out with other collectors.

I don’t go to very many shows, but I have to agree that the Colorado Gun Collectors Show (in Denver) is one of the best around these parts. Its the same quality as our Cody show, but about 4 times larger. No candles, dream catchers, purses, or jerky booths allowed. There are many WACA members set up there.
I have been setting up at the Denver show with Rick Hill for the last few years and we have a great time. The best part for me is the 40 min. drive back and forth to my house. This is one of the rare times I actually enter the Denver metro area and battle the traffic.
Hope to meet you there next May.

Doug, Sioux Falls is a good show, 1000 tables at the Convention Center, Hotel attached, Feb. 10-11. Lots of old Winchesters, Indian stuff, major dealers, and displays. Sioux Falls has gotten a lot better since they left the Ramkota Inn, the down side it’s Feb. in South Dakota. It’s been said that when a snow flake hits the west side of South Dakota it doesn’t stop til it hits the Mississippi River. I enjoy it but I don’t go if they forecast a blizzard. I don’t know where you live but I drive 500 miles and it’s worth it. T/R

Hi TR
That’s good information and a good time for me to get away. As far as the snow, I live in Saskatchewan,so pretty used to icy roads and cold. I will look into that one. Thanks
