New to the forum; longtime shooter, hunter, and reloader. I’ve been accumulating Winchesters for years but have only recently realized I’m a collector. Some of you will know me from the Cast Boolits forum. I hope the rest of you won’t hold that against me. I’m mostly interested in older 94’s but have a 92 and a 73 as well as a few post-64 94’s and bolt guns. I’m working my way thru Madis’ book, bought a very nice & unusual 1873 while reading that chapter. Very fortunate timing but I probably would have bought this rifle even if I hadn’t known how unusual it was. Reading about 1886’s now, will have to let my finances recover I explore that remarkable model further, lol.
I’ve bought some very interesting Winchesters lately and with the help of Renneberg and Madis I’ve learned how truly special they are, or in the case of one example, may be.
I’ll likely lurk for awhile and soak up all I can before doing much posting but I do have a couple of rifles that I need some input on.
Just got back from my second trip to Cody, spent a couple of days there and even had the pleasure of meeting Ms. Bennett and Ms. Hlebinsky. Entire staff was very friendly and helpful. Awesome people, hope to return when they get the Browning exhibit updated.
Enough about me, I’m here to learn about Winchesters.

Thanks for the welcome. I’ve been doing a lot of reading this weekend, very impressed by the depth of knowledge around here.
Hi Tx gun nut. Welcome to the world of instant information , mostly good , some not so much. I am fairly new to this site as well and have to marvel at the wealth of information that abounds out there and the time involved by those individuals who so unselfishly put it all together, I am forever grateful for their efforts. I have been a collector for probably 46- 48 years and at one point about 3 years ago had aquired app. 1400 firearms, mostly Winchesters. We built a new house and was faced with the undaunting task of moving all this stuff, that’s when sanity kind of set in and I sold off about 1200 pieces, leaving Me with a couple hundred 1894,s, always My favorite. The Mod. 94 having a 113 year production run is so diverse in it,s variations and features but managed to maintain its familiarity to such a degree it remains basically unchanged. For Me at least it is the most collectable of all Winchester lever guns and remains very effective in the field in it’s original form. Again welcome , it,s always nice to find another 94 enthusiast.
