I recently saw a reference to a post regarding the proper way to tighten up a loose take down connection.  How does one go about finding these previous posts without starting a new “topic” to cover previously posted information?  My computer skills are limited and any help will be greatly appreciated.  RDB

Roger,

Here is one thread about tightening a takedown.

https://winchestercollector.org/forum/winchester-rifles/winchester-takedown-leverguns/#p102437

What you do is enter the search terms in the search box then click “Advanced Search” and then check “Match all words”. I searched “tighten takedown” so if I searched for it without checking the box I would have hundreds of post that just mention “takedown” from there you can just search the current forum or all forums. You don’t have to search a proper sentence like “tighten a takedown” just the key words.

Thank you 1873man.  Now what I need to find is the way to tighten up the take down joint without using the three adjusting screws.  That’s what I am looking for.  Jim Grueter knew how, but wouldn’t share his secrete.  RDB

you have 2 ways of doing that. one is put a shim in between and the other is called moving the threads which takes a good gunsmith and done wrong your left with a takedown you can’t put together.

Thanks, best left to the professionals.  “Don’t buy loose take downs”.  Got it!  Kiss  RDB

I’m functionally computer illiterate so I sometimes have better luck with a Google or other search than I do with the search options on this site. It will often bring you back to this site. Had similar issues on the cast bullet site, sometimes it even directed me back to one of my old posts. 😉

TX, that sounds simple enough.  There is a strong possibility I tend to over think the situation and complicate the solution. I appreciate your suggestion.  RDB
