I keep seeing different dates listed for my 94 from different sources. Could someone tell me when s/n 1267335 was made. Thanks. Sorry if this is obviously on the site. It’s my first time here, and I’m on a cell phone.

Your Model 94 Carbine was manufactured early in the year 1941. Does it have a “W” stamped below the serial number? Which caliber is it?

I don’t see a “W”. It’s a 30-30.

Does it have upper tang markings with an upper tang screw, or just a stock screw only?   I almost bought one in that serial number area that had upper tang markings, but no upper tang hole for the mounting of a tang sight.  I believe that I passed the pertinent information on to Bert as well.

The serial number on your Model 94 is right in the transition point when Winchester stopped stamping the “W” on the bottom of the receiver frame.

James,

This Model 94 Carbine (1267335) will have the Type 7 tang marking, and it is drilled & tapped for a tang sight.

Winchester did not discontinue the drilled & tapped tang sight hole until June 1942, and the tang markings were omitted when the Model 94 production resumed in late 1945.  The June – August 1942 production Model 94 Carbines look like the attached picture…

Sorry for the slow response. I picked the rifle up today.

It does have the tang sight screw and doesn’t have the “W”.

I would like some help to date a 94 carbine #1417754. It has a flat band & long forearm, no lettering on upper tang, & no screw hole. No “W” on frame, & serrated trigger. I believe it’s post war, but really a guess. Thanks, Jim.

Jim,

Early 1947.  Serial number 1411200 was serialized on 1/29/1947.  I suspect your Flat-band was serialized late February or early March 1947.  Which caliber is it?

Jim,

You are welcome.  In reviewing my previous reponse to your question, I realized that I typed the wrong date.  Just to be clear, your Model 94 was manufactured in February/March of the year 1947.
