Hi Guys,Anyone in the Houston area or anywhere ever deal with this place? They always seem to have some pretty interesting rifles up for bid on gunbroker. Was contemplating on making an offer on one of their rifles and wanted to get your opinions.
Thanks!
I have, and I have gotten some great deals. The phone lady and I hit it off immediately as she was from Cedar City, where I live now. They will on occasion knock a few bucks off their guns. They charge a minimum of $40 for shipping, they pack well, and get them out right away. I have bought several rifles from them with no problem. I figure I have spent near $5000 with them and I will buy more if I see anything I want. If you talk to the lady, tell her Larry from Cedar City sent you. Big Larry

All I hear is good, can’t wait until I have a few hours to burn in Houston. Haven’t dealt with them but would feel very confident doing so.

I’ve dealt with them a couple of times in the past 2 years. They ship for free (over $100) and ship promptly but will not use USPS on antiques, even if you ask for it. They’ll say they ship USPS but go ahead and use UPS. Rifles are well packed, sometimes in an old, well used, gun case. The best part is that they take credit cards with no upcharge which to me is an added security benefit. Also, once you have set up an online account you don’t have to mess with sending them paperwork (again, I only order antiques). They do ship promptly and will follow-up with a tracking number if you request one. On the negative side, they are a bit overpriced but then, all Winchester are.

Good morning,
I live approximately 5 miles from CFA and have dealt with them on a couple of purchases and looking at guns for my various surveys. I also know Mike and his wife through other interests. You should have no problem in dealing with them. Let me know if there is anything I can look at for you.

Michael,
Thanks for the offer and I, for one, will take you up on that someday. I check their site regularly for 1885’s and 1886’s and have purchased one of each from them.

Are they flexible on list pricing ?Bill
Bill,
I have found that good cold hard cash always works well for getting a discount. Their willingness will most likely be dictated by how long they have been holding a certain item and how much of a reduction you are attempting. I just had another phone conversation about 2 weeks ago with a collector who purchased a rifle from them and the deal was discounted and handled in a very professional manner when a small problem with the gun was noticed. The owner was very pleased.

Have done six figures worth of business with Mike and his nephew Danny (mainly selling). VERY professional, knowledgeable, hospitable and accommodating. I have been in their office when the inter-office intercom has asked Danny or Mike if they would take X (low five figures) for a gun. Store manager immediately gave them their listed cost and they made a deal on the spot so they are in the business to sell for sure. They were running 10-20% of everything back in December.
I guess the main thing is make a fair and serious offer and be ready to deal or haggle because they will. Good luck.
Casey
Didn’t they used to have a store located in Dallas?
