A couple, very nice specimens, that you’re sharing there Steve!
I’ve always liked the, saddle ring, “Halo”, mark, that the ring would leave on the left side of the receiver, from use!

Tony –
Thank you for your comments. I too, appreciate the aesthetics of the ring halo or shadow.
I think I bought my first .44-40 nearly 50 years ago. It was a ’92 rifle with FOFMCB.
I have enjoyed the .44-40 ever since my first. This has included many other ’92’s, ’73’s as well as Marlin M1894’s, Whitney-Kennedy, Whitney-Scharf and even a Remington M14 and 1/2.
The .44-40 I really wanted was Shrapnel’s Burgess two-barrel set wrist action pump rifle
Edit – as I reflected further, I recall LeRoy Merz had a very slender British double rifle in .44-40. I thought that was darn cool too.
Love seeing those photos guys!!
Here is another that was supposed to be something else!!
The next video turned into a 100 yard re-zero…LOL
After the video, I installed the new mount, so…….maybe some more later.

Good job, Bryan. Rifle definitely shows promise. Care to expand on your mount issues and remedy?

I made the dial decals and applied them. Then I had to remove them from the mount. I was hoping one way off, one way back on….but noooooooo. Rather than re-zero for that mount, I decided to replace it with the newer one that can be seen from the shooter position. The old model you have to get up and look at the top, as I did in the video. The new ones are marked on the side and can be seen sitting down!
Eventually I will do a video about the scope and the mounts. Both are fine, the later is just a bit more efficient to use.

Thanks, I know those early scope mounts can be confusing. I haven’t ventured down that path yet so was hoping to learn from your experience.
