Can anyone advise if this strap and hooks look authentic? My friend sent me these pics below and asked my opinion and it looks authentic to me with the brass buckles as I had two guns with these straps & hooks before but not in this pristine condition. He said it was on a high value gun a guy sold without the strap. Thanks in advance

Ok Thanks Clarence. He just told me $50 took it home so seems like a fair price.

The repro hooks were being sold for between $35 to $50, so that’s a fair price. The only original strap I ever saw had a snap at the upper end, & a buckle (I think!) at the lower end, so the frogs are out of place.
Here are two slings I managed to get many years ago. The nicer one was found in a drawer and came with a model 94 carbine that dates to 1928. The darker one came with an 1886 Ex. Lt. T/D that dates to 1906. The Win. Letter for the 1886 lists 5 special order features, but does not mention the sling, sling eyes or Lyman #21 sight. The Winchester sling buckles are stamped “PAT. JAN.12. 1897.”. Hope this might help, but they are not the “Military” type sling. Roger B.

The reason I bought this 94 cuz it was lettered with the 21.
That’s more than enough reason, but the SB is icing on the cake. Though I love tang sights, for some reason I like the 21 even more, though the only gun on which I have one is a very well used ’95; probably not even original, but I don’t care.

Ya Clarence I saw one on a 86 yrs ago & it was lettered. Didn’t care about the model just always wanted one since that was lettered with a 21 from the factory.
The SG butt & takedown were a bonus!
