Welcome, OHgunner. I’m sure we have members nearby, possibly even a forum member. What draws you to 1873’s and 1892’s? Any chamberings in particular?
Mike
Thanks. I have a Uberti 73′ chambered in 38/357, really enjoy shooting it. Always liked the look of the 73′ but also the strength of the 92′. Looking for one in 44-40 mainly because I started collecting brass in that caliber awhile ago. I do plan to shoot it so I’m kind leaning toward the 92′.
Welcome OHgunner,
I am from North Central Ohio, between Cleveland and Akron. Always good to see a new WACA member. Are you a member of OGCA? WACA is going to be at the IX Center in November. I am planning on setting up at the IX Center in June,(OGCA), not a WACA scheduled event but a decent show otherwise.

When it comes to the 44 WCF cartridge the 73 is plenty strong. As far as the strength of the 92 over the 73 there probably is some but it is not needed with standard loads. Buy what you like. If you are looking for a “cowboy era gun” get a 73. By the 1890’s the West had already been won.
ohgunner-sent you a pm yesterday, check your spam file for notification…. Hey Antonio, glad to hear you’ll be setting up at the OGCA show in June, we are looking forward to having a great show. As for WACA being a the ix center in November, i believe the WACA show(during the OGCA meeting) is still in Sept. in Wilmington for 2024 …But the September show in 2025 will be at the IX center but haven’t confirmed it’ll still be a WACA show, but assume it will be.

I’m not a member of OGCA. I would like to check out some of there shows. Do they usually have any decent older Winchesters?
OGCA next Show schedule for Wilmington is March 9,10, 2024
Even though it’s a members only plus guest show you can usually get a guest pass signed up front at the table from a sponsor as that would probably be the easiest way to do it.
If not one of us here can send you one and then you can get it taken care of up front with the remaining info needed.

OHgunner, The OGCA is the largest and oldest Gun Collector organization/Club in the World. I don’t know if I’ll make that one as I have a few commitments in the works. Your in the South East so it shouldn’t be too bad a trip for you. It’s 3 hours south on I 71 for me. Not terrible. I’ve done it back and forth when I was younger before on more than one occasion. Looking fore ward to the next couple shows at the IX Center in Cleveland as I can make that 40 minute trip pretty easily naturally.
