I have a ton of gun leather/ammo belts. I hate to see them empty, and love the old brass look with lead round nose. But can’t abide the verdigis issue.
I also don’t like bright nickel or whatever that alternative is that looks silver. Any alternatives you can think of?
I won’t be shooting it. It’s more display. I have a ton of brass to shoot.
Thanks for any ideas.
Huck, Sounds to me you have limited yourself to displaying brass cartridges. Brass will cause verdigris when contacted by most if not all leathers due to the way they were tanned. Thus my suggestion, for what it is worth, is to preclude the BRASS from contacting the leather by coating your display cartridges with a satin urethane via a spray can. IF the brass you wish to display is COLLECTIBLE in its own right, that is not a good solution either.

Sounds good, Tim. None of my brass is collectible. I’d like to use some of my older brass and try your idea on a few rounds just to see. I might also just adjust my aesthetic (LOL!) and go with the nickel. After all, any rounds look better than no rounds and they’d be shootable, whereas the urethane may gum up the weapons or make the rounds too tight.
It’s all .45 Colt, 45-70, 45-90, 40-82, and 40-65.
Thanks for the education.
