I have a ’66 musket ser#23346 that I’ve just taken the stocks off of. On the lower left tang is R E H in block letters a little bigger than ser# size. Does any one know if this bears any significance to anything or just someone’s initials? Would 23346 be a 2nd or 3rd model, the ser# is behind the trigger. P.S. It has the recessed bbl. for the cartridge and the early forward upper portion of the elevator mortise.

Henry,
Its a second model. Please post pictures of the letters.

I think it could be assemble letters rather than assemble numbers.
