We don’t have a Reloading/Ammo section here at WACA so I posted this here in the hopes that someone can help.

I recently purchased a used 3 die set of 32-20 RCBS dies and they came with a 32-20 sizer, 32-20 expander but the crimp die is marked for “38 ACP” and is obviously a mismatch with the other 2 dies.

Will the 38 ACP die crimp the 32-20 correctly or is it just an odd die that got tossed in the box?

Thanks!

I don’t know about your die problem, but I have a nice M53 in 32-20 that you can shoot the next time you are here, so bring some ammo. Big Larry

I think I can say with assurance that there isn’t any function for a 38 auto die and a 32 wcf cartridge.  I just measured the outside diameters of both to be sure I wasn’t speaking out of turn and found the OD of the 38 casing to be 10mm from crimp to rim. The 32 casing from the crimp to the shoulder measures approx 8.2mm and after the shoulder goes up to 8.5mm. The 38 die would glide over the entire length of the unsized 32 casing without even coming close to contact.

The shell holder would probably be the same for both.Wink

Thank you!  I appreciate you taking the time to measure and confirm.
